Zentangle Art

The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Join Certified Zentangle Teacher Lisa Hoesing for an introductory workshop and monthly meetup to practice the method.

The monthly meetup will take place on the second Saturday of each month in the Barbara Gorson Multipurpose Room. All supplies will be provided at the event, thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Capitola Library

Periodic workshops to welcome new beginners will also take place.

Community Crafters @ Boulder Creek

Join us each Saturday morning for a relaxing time crafting with your neighbors. The Community Crafters are a diverse group of makers and love to share our knowledge. We knit, quilt, weave, spin, make jewelry, embroider, mend and so much more. All crafters are welcome! We hope you will join us in creating community and beautiful things!

Please note: Most weeks, crafters bring their own supplies to work on independent projects, but about once a month one of our members puts on a special workshop, sharing knowledge on a specific subject and materials are provided. Please refer to the Library calendar for updates on these special workshops, as they require registration.


English Language Conversation Group with Volunteer Center Literacy Program

One of our tech savvy staff members at the La Selva Beach Library would like to help you troubleshoot your question with a 30 minute (or less) appointment. Possible topics may include: creating an email account, creating documents, attaching files, using premium subscription library resources, downloading and streaming content like movies, books, and audiobooks, and more. Please bring any devices you use, and have your necessary passwords and library card with you.

Saturday Shakespeare - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Are You Game? Board Games and More in Felton Branch Library

Friends who Scrap: Social Paper-crafting

Community Poetry Circle

Join the circle and write a poem in a creative and supportive  environment. No experience necessary. Open to all ages and levels of poets.

Crochet for Kids *Ages 9-11*

Learn how to crochet! Kids will learn the basics of slip knots and chaining. More experienced kids may continue to work on completing a granny square. No experience needed. Recommended for ages 9-12. Registration is required.

Advisory Council of Teens (ACT) is the SCPL young adult advisory group. ACT is open to all young adults in Scotts Valley and the San Lorenzo Valley. The main focus of the ACT is young adult services, including programs, events, spaces, and policies. This is a good opportunity for students to fulfill community service credits, obtain job skills, develop leadership abilities, and acquire college extracurricular experience. Also, ACT is a great outlet to meet great friends and most importantly, have fun with other like minded individuals.

5-minute Breath-work: Learn simple breathing techniques to calm your mind and body instantly. 20-minute Guided Meditation: Experience a gentle, easy-to-follow meditation that will leave you feeling centered and energized. Harsha has been practicing meditation since 2011 and regularly leads group sessions at the Aptos Library in Santa Cruz. His teaching style is approachable and supportive, making it easy for participants of all levels to enjoy.

Tales to Tails @ Capitola

Trained therapy dogs will be available at the Library to be attentive reading partners for children reading aloud.

Child must be 6-17 years old, and already reading to some degree.

Our volunteer handlers are there to provide support but are not trained reading instructors.
