Description: | The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a grassroots organization providing support, education and advocacy for people with serious mental illnesses and their families and friends. NAMI focuses its efforts on serious mental illnesses. Serious mental illnesses include schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder (manic depression), obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder and other brain disorders. Membership consists primarily of family members and friends of people who have mental illness, mental health care consumers, friends and mental health care professionals. ELIGIBILITY: Membership is open to all who share in NAMI's mission. NAMI is of interest to family members and friends of individuals who live with a mental illness, individuals who live with a mental illness, mental health care professionals, and the general community. FEES: Free classes and support groups open to all. Membership fee $35 families, $3 low income. |
Programs: | **NEW-NAMI Homefront Education Program** Developed to meet the unique needs of families of our Service Members and Veterans who are living with mental health conditions. It is a six-session adaptation of the evidence-based NAMI Family-to-Family Program. Support Groups led by trained volunteers Family-to-Family Education Series Peer to Peer Education Series Provider Education Program Variety of Presentations for schools, community groups and health care organizations. Bi-monthly Speaker meetings Mental Health Advocacy Summit (High School Advocacy group) |
