Library Design

  • Library of the Future: Cedar Rapids

In June 2008 a destructive flood swept through the city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In the wake of the flood, a visionary group realized that the silver lining to the story was the opportunity to radically re-imagine the role a library could play in the life of the community. The focus was on creating a space that, in the words of the library director would be more like an "Apple Store than the DMV".
